Description

In 1965, W.L. Webb, literary editor of The Guardian , established the Guardian Fiction Prize "to recognize each year a novel of originality and promise by a British or Commonwealth writer." In 1999, the Prize was replaced by the Guardian First Book Award, which rewarded new writing across multiple fiction and nonfiction genres. The Guardian First Book Award was last granted in 2015
